Description

Mill House is a former water mill in Old Harlow, built in 1872, that has been converted into residential accommodation.

Gunning London were proud to win the contract to deliver the complete external refurbishment of the facades, including windows, roofs, rainwater goods and redecorations of this historic building, restoring Mill House back to its former glory.

With no major works having been done for 24 years, a refurbishment was long overdue.

Key Points

Sympathetic consideration was made to ensure items such as the heritage guttering were replaced to not only look like its original but also to be maintenance free aluminium, saving on future life cycles.

The period style joinery was carefully repaired with the RepairCare system. This again saving the client programme time and money thanks to our expertise with the RepairCare timber resin system.

This enabled our client room in the budget for additional repairs to the traditional tile and lead roofs, and the rebuilding and repointing of the chimney stacks, without the need for significant additional costs.

We worked side by side with ICI Dulux, the appointed Clerk of Works and the Resident Liaison Officer to ensure complete client and resident satisfaction – a restoration project to be proud of!
