Manorfield Primary School is located in the East End of London and has recently undergone major remodelling.  T. Gunning Ltd were awarded the contract to deliver Phases 8-13, the refit/upgrade and remodelling of a ground floor KS1 corridor and two associated staircases together with five existing first floor classrooms and associated store rooms.

Works included full internal refurbishment of corridors and classrooms, including pre-construction asbestos survey, complete strip out and installation of new partitions, ceilings, doors, windows, flooring, heating, lighting and electrics. Repair of stairs and handrails.

The school is located on a busy road, to minimise disruption to the local neighbourhood a logistical plan was drawn up for all deliveries and operatives. All operatives arrived before 8:00 am and followed the logistical route and all deliveries were arranged for before 8:00 am

All operatives DBS checked prior to commencing works. All operatives followed the Company Code of Conduct, wore photo ID badges and company livered uniform.

The KS1 corridor and associated staircases (phase 8) were completed during school holidays, but the classrooms and stores were completed during school opening times. The Classroom works (Phases 9-13 were undertaken in 5 individual and sequential phases one classroom + store (as appropriate) at a time. Each class cohort was progressively decanted into a spare standalone classroom as the works progressed, whilst the classroom being worked on partitioned-off/segregated to ensure the safety of children, staff and parents.
