Key Details

T Gunning successfully delivered the contract to replace the cross corridor fire doors at Highgate Mental Health Centre, a ‘low secure’ unit. Our Client’s priorities were to ensure fire spread and prevention, and to ensure conformity with new FRA requirements, while delivering the project without any compromise to the safety and security of building users and site staff.

Health and Safety was of the utmost priority on this project; bespoke risk assessments were carried out for all activities to take account of the environment and the building users.

Power tools were never left unattended for any period of time, and were always removed from site and safely locked away overnight. Exclusion zones were used around the work areas where necessary.

Site staff worked in pairs to ensure each others’ safety, and were trained in how to prevent escalation with disruptive and unpredictable building occupiers. Site staff were always polite, respectful and non-confrontational even in the most challenging situations.

Start and finish times were tightly planned and co-ordinated to avoid building users’ meal times.

Installation of the fire doors was integrated with the existing fire control measures and established fire procedures.
