Key Details
The works comprised fire compartmentation works at multiple concurrent sites throughout the UAL campuses. Works included:
• fire stopping of over 200 no. penetrations of varying sizes in the floor/ceiling slab and in compartment walls
• replacement of 129 no. fire doors
• replacement of glazing with new fire rated glazing
• making good and redecoration of any visible areas
We conducted an in depth survey of every location and created a detailed schedule of works to ensure that the works were comprehensively delivered. This included before and after photos of every repair.
The survey highlighted important areas not in the specification where fire stopping was required. The scope of the works and the programme were adjusted accordingly.
All works were certified under the BM Trada Q-Mark scheme as 3rd party verification of satisfactory fire performance and competent installation.
The building was occupied meaning that the programme of work had to be arranged around the building users’ needs. This required OOH working at nights or weekends, and sectioning off work areas to protect the public.
A detailed O&M manual was created to document the works for the building owners and users.
